Summer Skincare Routine for Combination/Normal Skin
Summer is on its way! It’s time to change your skincare products to prepare you for this hot and sunny weather. During the summer season, less is better! When you have less products all over your face, your skin feels lighter and less stuffy throughout the day. I personally have combination/normal skin, so I will recommend some lightweight products that I have used or am currently using when summer comes, but it may not necessarily be the right fit for you.
For cleansers, it doesn’t particularly change depending on the season. I usually keep the same cleanser throughout the entire year and change depending on my skin condition. During the summer, foam cleansers are the best! Why? Your skin produces more oil and sebum during this time of year due to the heat. Foam cleansers get deep into your pores to clean out all that dirt gathered throughout the day. Most importantly, it feels so soothing on the skin after a long day outside. I recommend three cleansers: COSRx Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser, COSRx Salicylic Acid Daily Gentle Cleanser, and Innisfree Apple Juicy Deep Cleansing Foam.
I usually prefer light and gentle toners for the summer season. My toner recommendations are: Innisfree Jeju Sparkling Mineral Skin, COSRx One Step Pimple Clear Pads, and COSRx One Step Moisture Up Pads. I usually apply COSRx One Step Pimple Clear Pads and COSRx One Step Moisture Up Pads at night because they are thicker, so the product can replenish your skin while you’re sleeping. Innisfree Jeju Sparkling Mineral Skin feels light on the skin and makes your skin look soft, so it is perfect under makeup. In the morning, Innisfree Jeju Sparkling Mineral Skin is perfect to use because it makes your skin feel fresh and more awake.
Occasionally, I tend to skip this step or only apply them at night to help replenish my skin. When I feel like my skin is extra dry then I usually apply light products during the summer. My two recommendations for essence/oil are Huxley Secret of Sahara Oil Essence and Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum. Huxley Secret of Sahara Oil Essence is indeed an oil, but it feels super light on the skin like an essence and the packaging is just so luxurious. Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum is one of the “originals” as most people have tried it and loved it due to its lightweight formula which makes skin look smooth over time. These two products provide moisture to your skin but don’t make your skin feel stuffy, so they are my holy grail products that can be used all year round.
For creams, light yet moisturizing creams are the way to go! Since your skin will be exposed to huge amounts of sun and heat during the day, the moisture content in your skin will slowly decrease. Therefore, you need to search for the perfect cream to provide that moisture to have dewy skin, yet not make your skin feel oily throughout the day. My cream recommendations are: Belif The True Cream - Aqua Bomb, Innisfree Green Tea Balancing Cream, and Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream.
As you can tell, I love COSRx and Innisfree products! During the summer, I tend to sweat more, so my makeup gets in my pores. Therefore, skincare is always the most important part to achieving that glass skin look. After using these products, I rarely get pimples or unnatural pigmentations and my skin feels moisturized all day and night. Although these products are just right for my skin, they may not work with your skin. The best way to find the perfect product for your skin type is to test out various products.
