NCT’s Jaehyun and Taeil’s New Side in “New Dream”

NCT’s Jaehyun and Taeil’s New Side in “New Dream”

Members Jaehyun and Taeil of NCT have recently released a song set to be an OST of action-thriller web drama Dokgo Rewind starring Sehun of EXO and Mina of gugudan. The song came out September 7 and is titled “New Dream.”

It is no surprise for fans that Jaehyun and Taeil are bursting with talent. However, it’s the style of song that truly astonished listeners. Instead of a grand ballad which many were expecting, the song is more upbeat and somewhat influenced by rock with its heavy guitar sound. The vocalists of NCT have never participated in a project quite like that of “New Dream,” though the release definitely gives the pair a chance to prove their voices are capable of suiting different styles outside of what we usually hear from the group.

The song starts slow and builds towards the chorus where we’re greeted with a change in beat following a heavier guitar sound. Jaehyun and Taeil both do a good job of singing with smooth voices while simultaneously giving everything they’ve got toward the high notes near the end of the song. It’s one of those tracks that makes you feel like anything is possible when you listen to it.

The video is put together using clips from the web drama Dokgo Rewind, which includes many action-packed scenes with Sehun, the male lead in the drama, giving us a little sneak peak of both the plot and the characters.

“New Dream” gives us a feeling that it could have been an EXO song, though that might just be because we see Sehun throughout the entirety of the video, making the association even stronger.

It’s an exciting song definitely worth checking out. Don’t forget to add it to your workout playlist, especially if you’re already a fan of NCT and want to see something completely different from Jaehyun and Taeil. Make sure to check out the web drama as well if you need something to watch this fall.
