KARD is on Fire in “Bomb Bomb”

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a new release from KARD, dating as far back as last summer with Ride on the Wind. After the underwhelming release, fans were eager for a triumphant return back to the group’s former glory. “Bomb Bomb” is only a digital single, so it’s the only song we get for the time being. But did “Bomb Bomb” live up?

Well, it’s hard to argue that this track isn’t a total banger. And yes, “Bomb Bomb” is a better song than “Ride on the Wind.” The co-ed group chose to take advantage of the Latin craze surging through K-Pop these days, with a traditional Latin beat as the main rhythmic line in the song. The breakdown in the chorus is pretty much straight fire, making this track a perfect fit for your next party playlist. While the beat drives the song from the very beginning, the pickup in the chorus is definitely the best part of the song and what makes it such a great bop. Like most KARD tracks, Somin and Jiwoo’s vocals are highlighted in the verses while BM takes over the hardcore portion of the chorus. The only true disappointment is that J.Seph has a distinct lack of lines in comparison to BM.

Regarding the music video, the visuals are definitely off the charts here as well. The main background of the choreography shots takes place in what appears to be a sandy temple setting, fitting along with the musical theme. There are some beautifully colorful shots of Somin, J.Seph, and Jiwoo in front of stained glass with large flower arrangements that add colorful depth to the otherwise mostly monotone video. It’s these single member shots that add the main splash of color to the video.

Sexy may be an understatement with this video release. A significant amount of the video features BM shirtless and sweaty, a shot shows Jiwoo taking off her shirt from the back, and Somin spends some time in a very shallow pool. There is something to please everyone here, and we’re not complaining.

Although it’s simply a digital single, “Bomb Bomb” gives us a taste of what we all know KARD is capable of after their last somewhat disappointing release. Fans of the group will be delighted to see the group help bring themselves back to their former glory.
