Summer Skincare Routine for Dry Skin vs. Oily Skin

Summer Skincare Routine for Dry Skin vs. Oily Skin

Summer is officially here which means your skin will start to change depending on the weather. For various skin types, skincare routines will change, leading people to skip crucial steps due to the oil and sebum produced throughout the day. Skincare steps should not be overlooked due to the warmer weather. Here are some tips to keep your skin healthy and properly moisturized throughout the warmer months.

DRY SKIN

For dry skin types, skincare routines should remain relatively the same as in any other weather. Due to warmer weather, there will be more sebum, which is considered a natural oil produced by the skin, gathered throughout the day. If anything, products can be exchanged for lighter options because natural oils are always best for the skin. If an enormous amount of product is applied to the skin, there is a possibility that too much oil can form on the surface which can cause breakouts. Also, people with dry skin are not quite used to oil being produced onto the skin, so be careful not to overwash your face as this can cause breakouts as well. Some recommended products for those with dry skin types are Klairs’ Blue Calming Midnight Cream and Innisfree’s Green Tea Seed Serum.

OILY SKIN

Those with oily skin types tend to just clean their face and just skip skincare all together for fear of adding too much excessive oil to the skin. One of the most important factors of doing skincare daily is cleaning deep within your pores and providing the right moisture to your skin throughout the day. When it comes to oily skin, excess oil and sebum produced throughout the day has to be cleaned out properly or else it could clog your pores. Even though your skin feels oily, you still need to moisturize and apply serums. As an alternative, lighter products can be applied such as a gel moisturizer, emulsions, or non-oil-based serums. Through applying these products, your skin feels moisturized without the worry of too much excess oil on the skin. Some products for oily skin types that maintain the fine balance of moisturized and refreshed are Innisfree’s Jeju Sparkling Mineral Skin and Etude House’s Moistfull Collagen Cream.

When the weather starts to change, your skincare routine also needs to adjust depending on the surrounding situation. When the atmosphere tends to get warmer and more humid, your skin condition will definitely react to the weather. Most importantly, remember to stay hydrated and healthy throughout the summer to keep that natural glow.
